Your settlement agent will:
- contact your bank/mortgagee to inform them of the impending settlement.
- send you an Appointment to Act, which should be signed and returned to your Settlement Agent.
- request you also contact your Bank/Mortgagee to sign any necessary documentation.
- send you a settlement statement.
Once the Transfer of Land document is received from the Buyer's Settlement Agent, it will be sent to you for execution. This document must be signed and witnessed correctly and returned as soon as possible to avoid any delays in Settlement. See Latest News this week for some examples of what not to do.
The Settlement Agent keeps everything together and makes sure that everyone is doing what he or she should, when they should.
